So I wrote about a table plan yesterday and now that you have your guests at their tables I want to insert a few notes about the table plan and the display.
First the practical side, how you write your names; Take your guests John and Mary Smith for example. You can be formal and say Mr. & Mrs. John Smith, less formal and say John and Mary Smith, or very familiar and use John & Mary {as long as there are not too many John & Mary’s!}. Just be consistent in your style with all of your guests’ names.
I am now going to take a moment to rant. “And Guest” There should be NO “And Guests” at your wedding! I have done soooo many table plans where there is a John and guest and it drives me bonkers. Don’t you want to know who is coming to your wedding? How would you or anyone else introduce or meet this poor nameless person?
The bottom line is – if you have invited a friend to bring a casual date, friend or plus one, you should know their name! First and last. Your invited guest should RSVP with their date/friend/ plus one’s actual name. Then you can continue on with your table plan.
Ok, I’m fine now. I’ll continue nicely………………
The possibilities for displaying your table plan are really endless. You can do a board to display the full printed table plan, put each table on a cut and decorated card and past into a frame, you can ask your florist do an arrangement and hang tags with guest names and table numbers from the arrangement, you can do escort cards in a nice display; seriously, whatever you can dream up you can use creatively to point your guests to their tables.
Here are a few really great examples:
