A New York to County Clare Destination Wedding in The Burren

When Zoe and Johnny decided to tie the knot, they knew exactly where their hearts lay in the rugged, breathtaking landscape of The Burren in County Clare. Having traveled to Ireland twice before, the couple fell deeply in love with the region’s rich heritage, sweeping limestone terrain, and unique native botanicals. For Zoe, a passionate forager, food writer, and culinary demonstrator who cooks with gathered wild plants, this ancient Irish landscape felt like a second home. It became the perfect backdrop for their dream destination wedding, prompting them to bring 150 of their closest friends and family from the United States to experience Ireland’s untamed magic.

A Celtic Gathering with a New York Twist

Their vision was incredibly clear and completely unique. They requested an outdoor ceremony nestled among historic abbey ruins or castle grounds in The Burren, seamlessly followed by an unforgettable Irish pub celebration. The aesthetic beautifully merged a great Celtic gathering with the sophisticated energy of an elaborate New York party. To honor their story, they chose a deeply personal color palette: lush green to represent the Irish countryside, vibrant red to celebrate Zoe’s Chinese heritage, and radiant gold to reflect the sheer joy and celebration.

Stunning Florals and a Lively Pub Reception

The wedding day was relaxed, lively, and brilliantly colorful. Jill Wild’s phenomenal floral artistry brought their vibrant green, red, and gold palette to life, perfectly complementing the sparse, dramatic beauty of the surrounding limestone environment. After exchanging their vows in the fresh Irish air, the celebration moved to Vaughan’s Pub, which delivered an authentic, high-energy hospitality experience.

Guests enjoyed an incredible surf-and-turf feast featuring fresh coastal lobster and premium steak. In a beautiful nod to Chinese tradition, Zoe and Johnny made their way to every single guest to share a toast and a shot of Baijiu. It was an incredibly warm, personal touch that flawlessly bridged their cultures before the entire party danced the night away. Zoe and Johnny are a truly special couple whose immense creativity and perfect vision made this County Clare destination wedding an absolute joy.
