I said to someone recently that metallic and a bit more bling were some of the new trends for 2012. Not that vintage or rustic is gone, it’s just that I think we are pretty much ready to come back to a bit more sparkle and shine. It’s like everyone is a little more optimistic and we want to show it.
A great example of where this sparkle and shine is coming in is mercury glass. You may have seen it popping up but not paid much attention. Well, pay attention! Mercury glass can absolutely be used in your vintage wedding as candle holders, votive’s or for your flowers. – and you can make it. Yes, you can take an ordinary glass whatever and mercury it! But more on that later. For now here are some pretty pictures to inspire you.

Now your DIYers, how do you create these lovelies? I present you with 2 tutorials. One by Martha and another by Anna. Believe it or not, I find Anna’s more detailed. I think Martha just has the touch so maybe she doesn’t have to work as hard but I need all the detail I can get.
I may just try this for one of my girls!
