We saw a lot of venues and locations for Caitlin and John Paul. They were discerning {as they should be!} and knew that they would know the spot when they saw it. They saw it and knew. Knappogue Castle. That was the spot for them and their Irish destination wedding. It is imposing and impressive with beautiful gardens and lawns so was the perfect setting for their bright spring wedding in the gardens.
We bused all of the 33 guests to the castle for the outdoor ceremony in glorious June sunshine. {Hmmm, I seem to get a lot of sunshiny weddings!} Luckily we had Johannes Roux on hand to take the photos.
The grey and fresh bright yellow color scheme worked fabulously with the blooming gardens and limestone castle.
The bride and her ladies arrived and did a quick freshen up inside the castle before the ceremony which proved perfect as an extra photo op.
The couple had a Spiritual Ceremony out in the manicured gardens in the shadow of the castle.
A solo Irish piper, Mickey Dunne, took care of all of the music.
After a wedding ceremony at an Irish castle, where else would you go but the pub? Vaughan’s Pub and Ceili barn was the only spot for them.
Flowers and rustic wood slices from West Clare Flowers kept the relaxed happy atmosphere inside the barn and desserts by Yvonne from Celtic Cakes tempted everyone from the start.
After a yummy dinner and those beautiful desserts, it was time for an ole knees up. The formal first dances, followed by some Irish dancing lessons for everyone and a ceili.
The Kelly sisters, our bride and bridesmaids, weren’t shy about pulling upon their childhood Irish dancing lessons and did a few jigs to entertain everyone.
The dancing and merriment went well into the night.
Thanks so much to everyone who helped me with this special day for Caitlin and John Paul and especially to Johannes for letting me share the photos!
