The First Look

Take your photos before the wedding? Would any of you consider this? It really is practical. I’ll tell you why,

You are nervous and anxious about walking down the aisle. All you will want to do when you see your groom is give him a big hug and kiss and just look at him – and him you! Do you want this most intimate moment in front of 150 people?

With a ‘first look’ you can have the photos of you two meeting privately with all of the excitement and glow of love about you in a more relaxed setting and capture that in your photos.  Your groom will still be in awe and full of pride as you walk down the aisle and I’ll prove it by referring you to {the fab photographer} Jasmine Star’s blog post about it.

I could absolutely  go on {and on} about the practicalities of a first look and will give you some good reads on the debate below so you can make your own decision, but I want you to see the touching and beautiful  expressions can be captured in the private setting of a first look. All photos are by Jasmine Star.

You can’t do that up at the alter! Anyway, here are a few good links to the great First Look debate:

From Elizabeth Ann Designs {including a discussions in the comments}, Wedzilla {the photos in this one nearly made me cry!}, and Every Last Detail.

And I’ll just finish with a note:

After your first look together you may like to take your bridal party photos as well then after the ceremony you actually get to enjoy your guests and spend the drinks reception with them.  For Irish couples who have generally longer weddings than Americans, you can also take a later church or ceremony time (about an hour) and actually save money because your drinks reception won’t be 2 ½ – 3 hours long, your spend on drinks here will go down and you won’t have to give as many, if any, canapés as (again) the time is shorter and if your ceremony is later your guests should have had time for lunch.

There is a lot to consider so discuss it with your groom

Tell me what you think! Really! Let’s debate!
