Laser Cut Stationery

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Yes I’m going to say it again, I love stationery. I love paper products and pretty folders and nice pens for my office but most of all I love wedding stationery and invitations because that seems to be where paper products and stationery gets especially creative.

Engraved, lithographed, letterpressed and – laser cut. Which is what I’m talking about today.

Laser cutting is a technology that uses a laser {obviously} to precisely cut materials. It used to be used mainly for industrial manufacturing but is now getting more creative and used by businesses and hobbyists with stunning and elaborate results. The super fine filigree designs are gorgeous and if you like doilies you will love these.

Many companies do laser cut wedding invitations but I am focusing on one company in this post, The Hummingbird Paper Company because they do lots more than just the wedding invitation including a bespoke design service to really personalize your invites.

Here are some of their beauties:

Just so delicate and lovely. Again, all of these are from The Hummingbird Card Company who are based in the UK.

Themed Stationery

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Again with the stationery! But I had to show you this one. The story behind it is great as is the compilation of design between an Event Stylist and a Stationer.  In this case the Stylist is Allison Sprouse of The Modern Hostess and the stationer is Sarah Pattison of The Happy Envelope {great name!!}

Their couple was from London but having a destination wedding in Tennessee which was the inspiration for the all of the details. This couple didn’t want to go down the ho-down country route but wanted a little bit of country and a little bit of rock n roll so a Jack Daniels bottle provided the perfect balance.

The first piece Sarah designed was a digital save the date which was an interpretation of the Jack Daniels label. They started with a strong statement so softened it up with letterpress for the actual printed wedding pieces of the invitations, envelopes, RSVPs and accommodation cards. Finally they created all of the additional pieces needed for the wedding weekend itself. Including a map, menu, weekend events card, guest book paper, welcome note, place cards and table cards.

This is how the full suite turned out. And it’s brilliant!

And finally, the guestbook. Simple yet effective and still in theme! Good quality paper and an antique typewriter!

Full of fun and creativity!

Saturday Quickie

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

R eal love for today’s post. Invitation love, stationery love, calligraphy love and letterpress love. These custom bespoke letterpress wedding invitaions were a collaboration between the stationery designer, Sarah at Parrott Design Studio, the calligrapher, Betsy Dunlap, and the bride.

Sarah made the plates for the invitations headings based on Betsy’s handwriting and then set the rest of the type. Read the full story of how these came to life on Sarah’s blog here. In the meantime, just love them.

Great quick look and lovely letterpress!
