Letterpress Style

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

This post started out as a stationery and letterpress {love letterpress} post but then I followed the printers link to the actual wedding photos of the couples they printed the stationery for and it is now also a real wedding post with a little design too.

Ok so I’ll start at the beginning. As mentioned above, I love letterpress, always have, and one of my favorite letterpress printers and designers is Studio On Fire in America. I love that they have edgy designs where most letterpress seems so soft and kind of feminine, so I stop by their blog on occasion to see what they are up to.

Well I saw one of their recent wedding projects and thought the detail was pretty amazing. Here, have a lookie

The bride and groom, Sofia and Ben are both graphic designers {handy eh?} who designed the invitation suite for Studio on Fire to press in antique brown and yellow. They are classy but fun and here is a bit more detail

{I can understand the lettering but how do they do the map?!?}

The main invitation was mailed with an accompanying information card–cleverly designed with a perforation line, allowing the attached RSVP card to be removed and returned.

Now we get to move on to the actual wedding that the invites were made for. Prepare to see how your invitations and printed items fit into your whole wedding and really help continue the theme and feeling.

Here are the stylish and talented Sofia and Ben!

Congratulations to them and a super big thanks to Dustn and Whitney at Oh Darling Photography for letting me share the beautiful photos. You should pop over to their blog for a look at more wedding loveliness. Everyone looks like they are having such fun! and Irish brides, they would love to come over!

Yay! Love this.

Wedding E-invitations

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

With this blog post, I feel a bit like a traitor, a turncoat – almost like I am cheating on one of my absolutely favourite wedding items, the stationary.

What can’t be denied though is that you told me yourselves in my last survey of Irish brides,  that more and more of you will be sending out electronic or e-invitations to your guests. Whether it’s because you are going green, they are cheaper or you are just a digital age modern couple. but don’t just send out an email to your guests. Please. If you are going to do them electronically, do them stylishly and do them right.

Green Envelope does all of that with the heavy emphis on going green. In fact they donate a significant percentage of every sale to Mountains to Sound, a non-profit organization that maintains forests.

For you, there will be a choice of templates to customize with colors and fonts or a totally custom designed invitation along with help in wording the invitation.

Your guests will see an envelope addressed to them, have coordinating RSVP card where they can reply directly and see guest information or direction cards.

For you, you can keep track of your responses and know who opened them or not and of course get corresponding Thank You cards for after the wedding – and lets not forget the Save the Dates. All easy peasy.

Here is a little look at a few of them

So how will you invite your guests?

{I have to say however PC it is to go green, I’m still a real paper girl. Maybe I’ll just have to donate to balance it out}

All You Need is Love – And Inspiration

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

I was looking for a little inspiration today so I went to Jesi Haack’s website. She {and her team} inspires me. Always super creative, the weddings she designs are perfectly individual. She is resourceful and crafty and she is a nice person. Ok, I’ve never actually met her but anytime I have ever emailed asking to repost one of her weddings/photoshoots  the answer is always a resounding “Sure! Thanks.” Now that is nice.

So here I am with another one.

This couple are Carmen and Pete and they share a love of music and film with The Beatles being their favourite band.

Representing their love of film, guests waved a flag made from movie film, which unraveled to spell out, “It’s for reel!” And {get this!} the flowers on Carmen’s bouquet were made from music sheet paper from the Beatles song “Anytime at All” which Pete sang to Carmen as he proposed.  The buttonholes for the groomsmen and Pete were made from vintage atlas map paper from different cities they have visited or would like to go.

Now get this, the girls carried red tamborines instead of bouquets and the guys danced down the aisle with marachas.

Everything had a meaning.

Carmen and Pete’s favorite Beatles album covers were the table names, old tape cassettes had each guests’ album name on it for them to match to the table name.  Jesi created a large music bar and had music notes for guests to sign and add to the bar to create a song and a large Beatles cutout gave fun facts about Carmen and Peter as well as letting guests know the dinner menu for the evening. Of course they had a Beatles tribute band! — Ooh and Tacos for evening food. Ahhh, tacos………

Heeeere are the photos!

Cassette table plan. Brilliant!

Love this guest book idea. Write a song with the best wishes. I wonder what it would sound like if actually played??

The word “Shugar” cam about by using the first few letters of Carmen and Pete’s last names. Perfect for their sweets table.

And Credit where credit {is totally} due:
