Add Some Color

Friday, December 17th, 2010

I saw these and I was immediately in love.  I know it’s cold outside, wintery, dark and dreary maybe, so leave it to me to bring in some color!

I can imagine so many ways to wear these gowns. Be bold and wear one as your wedding gown, change into one before your reception for a seriously glam party gown, spoil your bridesmaid, is your mom hot? She could sport one, wear one to the Oscars ;-) or even wear one to a black tie wedding! I think they are just fab. Full stop.

By Spanish designer Patricia Avendano, they are very womanly and a bit flirty at the same time. Must be the almost flamenco influenced ruffles.

Really love these purple ones. **sigh**

And now a bit of white fabulousness for those most of you who are a bit more traditional.

And finally one for a winter wedding,

I hope you enjoyed this splash of color on and cold December day! Much more on the website so head on over!

Bridal Market Day 2

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

Back to you again today with a few more of the stunning gowns by the fabulous designers that showed as Bridal market New York this week.

Did you see any gowns you liked in yesterday’s post? Notice the trends? I found lots of inspiration so here we go with more starting with an eternal favorite of mine. Amsale. The classic of classics. Always perfectly bridal. But look! Amsale is doing short dresses too!

Amsale

Junko Yoshioka

Simone Carvalli

Thread

Ramona Keveza Couture

Nicole Miller

Badgley Mischka

Lusan Mandongus

Claire Pettibone

Karen Hendrix

Rivini

Jasmine Collection

Reem Acra

I don’t think I gave you enough selection for you to see a pattern in the styles but if you have a look further in the designers {and you absolutely should do!} you will see a lot of figure hugging trumpet shapes, a lot of short dresses {which is great} and as I mentioned earlier, a lot of a lot. If it is ballgown, it’s big, if it has ruffles or layers it has a lot of ruffles and layers, if it is structured, it is very structured. No more of the gathered to the side look {which I know is quite flattering for most girls} but I only saw one. And the fabrics are lush.

I’d love to hear what you think about the new collections.

And finally, credit for all of these photos go, again, to Martha and you can find them all on the links above or here.

Bridal Market

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

People were going crazy on Twitter last night over this year’s New York Bridal Market.- Well, wedding people were going crazy.

For those of you who don’t know what Bridal Market is, it’s essentially a trade show where the couture bridal designers show their new collection to sell to bridal shops and boutiques and to get publicity and press for the new lines in the press and within wedding industry. The gowns are the Autumn 2011 collection and won’t be available until the Spring.

Of course I wasn’t there :-(  but I am trying to keep up with the flood of gowns. One thing that strikes me is that there is a lot of everything. If it is a ballgown, it’s big. If it’s lace, there is lace all over. If it has ruffles, It has ruffles all over. If it’s beaded…..well, you get the picture. Also lots of short dresses, dropped waists and mermaid styles. And color, subtle and bold color.

Here are some of my favs that I have seen so far. Martha showed me these and all of them and so so many more can be found on Martha Stewart Weddings.

Monique Lhuillier.

From Ines Di Santo

Anne Barge

Angel Sanchez

Chaviano Couture

Ulla Maija

Kenneth Pool

Kevan Hall

Jenny Lee

St Pucchi

There is sooo much fabulousness to see. If you can’t find something you like with any of these designers you are crazy I will have more tomorrow.

Enjoy!
