White By Vera Wang

Vera Wang White collection with David’s Bridal is out!

The announcement was last April and I have to say I was skeptical. It’s Vera Wang! – and David’s Bridal? But of course the gowns are beautiful. They aren’t cheap. Don’t think that just because David’s bridal is your basic wedding gown chain store that these are going to be cheap. They have the same luxe fabrics and and hand cut detail and priced from $600 to the $1400 mark. We now don’t have to be afraid to even walk into the store.  You know the ole ‘if you have to ask you can’t afford it’ is over.

This puts Vera in the range of a normal bride. Beautiful but affordable.

Here they are available from 11th February. Tell me what you think!!

There are definitely one or two in there I would choose. What about you??

Have a look in more detail here.

Ooh Great Gatsby!

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

As I am still not totally over the flu {yes, poor me. I know.} and in my feeling quite simply exhausted when I try to do anything, I was perusing through some news mags from the beginning of January and read that there is a film remake of The Great Gatsby on the cards. How fun and gorgeous will that be!!

Vintage has been the style {and delightfully so} for a while now so I am not exactly announcing a new  trend. However ‘vintage’ it can take in all different eras. Think 50’s style full short skirts, Retro 60’s funk, and the Victorian tea sets we are seeing, but my personal favorite is the 20’s style of ANYTHING. Love Love love it!  So I am delighted that the remake of The Great Gatsby movie will be bringing back a 20’s deco trend and themes into weddings. Pure gorgeousness. I’m so excited!

Someone who had been showing off this style for a while and is a great resource for planning a 1920’s style wedding is UK wedding blog, Love My Dress. Annabel knows what she is showing because she had a 20’s theme wedding herself.  In fact as I write this, she has a Gatsby inspired wedding photoshoot on her blog today. Go and have a look. It’s fabulous.

And of course I have a few resources for you too. Check out these gowns by Scottish Bridal Designer of the Year, Lindsay Fleming.

Find a range of stunning headpieces and jewelry by Stephanie Browne. An Austrialian designer but you can find them in America and the UK in various locations and online.

So hopefully that will be enough to get you interested because don’t worry, I’ll have more to come!

Add Some Color

Friday, December 17th, 2010

I saw these and I was immediately in love.  I know it’s cold outside, wintery, dark and dreary maybe, so leave it to me to bring in some color!

I can imagine so many ways to wear these gowns. Be bold and wear one as your wedding gown, change into one before your reception for a seriously glam party gown, spoil your bridesmaid, is your mom hot? She could sport one, wear one to the Oscars ;-) or even wear one to a black tie wedding! I think they are just fab. Full stop.

By Spanish designer Patricia Avendano, they are very womanly and a bit flirty at the same time. Must be the almost flamenco influenced ruffles.

Really love these purple ones. **sigh**

And now a bit of white fabulousness for those most of you who are a bit more traditional.

And finally one for a winter wedding,

I hope you enjoyed this splash of color on and cold December day! Much more on the website so head on over!
