Affordable Vera

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

Well I’m just back from my trip home to Los Angeles. It was a real family visit and although I did have some bride meetings, I really didn’t do much wedding related things, unfortunately.

What I did do was pick up some American wedding magazines. I always love flipping through wedding magazines from other countries and pick them up whenever I travel abroad. Because of that I should have some fun new posts for you with hopefully a few different fun and creative things.

This first post on my return isn’t exactly on anything new as it stars Vera Wang. But what I do want to do with this post is show you, Irish brides, the very affordable Vera Wang gowns you can get from David’s bridal in America because yes, they do ship to Ireland.

I’ll tell you the cost in dollars and convert it into Euro at the current rate but keep in mind that there will be tax, postage and probably customs {unless you are sneaky – but keep in mind that I don’t condone evading customs — ahem} but they are all under the Irish national average on wedding gown spends.

Ready?

There are other colors in this lovely and it’s only $1,248.00 = about €950

Super gorgeous and reduced to $1148.00 = about €890.00

Romantic and only $1498.00 = €1,130.00

So pretty in Pink and discounted to $848.00 which = about €640.00!

See the full Vera Wang White collection at David’s Bridal here

And how about your maids?? More pretty pretty Vera for them too and all are under $200.00 = €150.00!

Love.

White By Vera Wang

Vera Wang White collection with David’s Bridal is out!

The announcement was last April and I have to say I was skeptical. It’s Vera Wang! – and David’s Bridal? But of course the gowns are beautiful. They aren’t cheap. Don’t think that just because David’s bridal is your basic wedding gown chain store that these are going to be cheap. They have the same luxe fabrics and and hand cut detail and priced from $600 to the $1400 mark. We now don’t have to be afraid to even walk into the store.  You know the ole ‘if you have to ask you can’t afford it’ is over.

This puts Vera in the range of a normal bride. Beautiful but affordable.

Here they are available from 11th February. Tell me what you think!!

There are definitely one or two in there I would choose. What about you??

Have a look in more detail here.

Ooh Great Gatsby!

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

As I am still not totally over the flu {yes, poor me. I know.} and in my feeling quite simply exhausted when I try to do anything, I was perusing through some news mags from the beginning of January and read that there is a film remake of The Great Gatsby on the cards. How fun and gorgeous will that be!!

Vintage has been the style {and delightfully so} for a while now so I am not exactly announcing a new  trend. However ‘vintage’ it can take in all different eras. Think 50’s style full short skirts, Retro 60’s funk, and the Victorian tea sets we are seeing, but my personal favorite is the 20’s style of ANYTHING. Love Love love it!  So I am delighted that the remake of The Great Gatsby movie will be bringing back a 20’s deco trend and themes into weddings. Pure gorgeousness. I’m so excited!

Someone who had been showing off this style for a while and is a great resource for planning a 1920’s style wedding is UK wedding blog, Love My Dress. Annabel knows what she is showing because she had a 20’s theme wedding herself.  In fact as I write this, she has a Gatsby inspired wedding photoshoot on her blog today. Go and have a look. It’s fabulous.

And of course I have a few resources for you too. Check out these gowns by Scottish Bridal Designer of the Year, Lindsay Fleming.

Find a range of stunning headpieces and jewelry by Stephanie Browne. An Austrialian designer but you can find them in America and the UK in various locations and online.

So hopefully that will be enough to get you interested because don’t worry, I’ll have more to come!
