Saturday Quickie

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

I haven’t done any foodie posts for a while and recently Stumbledupon this yummy recipe.

Who doesn’t love brownies? and I also love chocolate covered pretzels {haven’t seen any here in Ireland though :-( } and my old home favourite, peanut butter so you can see why these caught my attention!

Peanut Butter Fudge Pretzel Brownie

Ahh! A little sweet and a little salty. I’d love to find one of theses in a lovely little wax paper bag like this one from Jilly Bean Kids after a wedding

or to keep the energy up while dancing. – Or maybe I’ll just make them next weekend!

I found them on How Sweet it is and you can get the recipe here.

Enjoy!

Fortune Cookies

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

As I was cruisin the net, as I do, I came across these and thought they were so adorable that I had to share. Dipped fortune cookies. But look how colorful they are!

Edible favors always go down a treat {no pun intended!} and these are fun, tasty and cute. They can be found on Beau-Coup and come in a huge variety of colors, dipped colors, with sprinkles or without, with a  little heart, and you can customize the message inside.

Love em!

New Etiquette

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

I have decided to do a bit of a repost on a post I did a while back but it certainly isn’t out of date. It’s on the etiquette of Social media and weddings. It is also fitting because I am waiting really patiently before posting the stunning pics of my last wedding. {beautiful bride, fab photographers, perfect day, everything you could want!} I think it is important that the couple and their families are able to enjoy them first before I share them with you. No matter how much work I or other vendors {and they were fantastic too!} put into the wedding, it was their day after all and they deserve a bit of private time to reflect. So enough of that, here is the post!!

I was on one of my favorite wedding forums recently Mrs.2B and joined a discussion about guests posting wedding photos on public social networking sites. The consensus was that this is a big NO NO!

In fairness, posting photos of yourselves having fun at a wedding is great and a bride wants to see photos of her guests having a great time, but photos of her and her new husband  before they have seen them may be something you should check out first. In many cases guests follow the pros around to get the great shots and post them before the couple has seen the professional ones. Now we know the quality is not going to be the same but still, let the couple enjoy them first. Most couples are also doing wedding websites where you can submit and share photos of the day for the couple and all of the guests to see. This is nice and private and fine to share them there.

In fact the girls were trying to figure out a way to ask guests politely and nicely not to post their photos on the public social networking sites and nothing seemed subtle yet effective enough to get the message across.

I (of course) jumped in and suggested that because everyone has digital cameras these days,  instead of putting the disposable cameras (which were so popular a few years ago) on the tables to put blank writable disks on the tables for the guests to take home and load their photos on. With these, not only can you get them cheaply (less than the disposable cameras that never gave good photos) but you can also personalize them with self print labels or sleeves on which you request that your guests load the photos on them and send back to the couple to upload on to their wedding website and to please not post them on various websites.  Here are some ideas of what is out there.

What do you think about this issue? Would you be upset to see your wedding photos on someone else’s Facebook page?
