Monday, April 5th, 2010

Any engaged or just loved up couples out there going on a weekend getaway?Boudior Photography M Photography The fabulous Melanie Rebane from M Photography in Ottawa will be in Europe (Prague actually) in mid-June and is available to do your engagement/in love/trash the dress/boudoir photographs while she is in Europe. I don’t know if she will be stopping in Ireland yet but if you make her an offer she can’t refuse I have a feeling she will!

I did a feature on her here a while back and {since I am not able to do the shoot myself} I highly suggest you take the opportunity to have a session with her while she is here. What could be more romantic! Contact her on melanie@m-contemporaryphotography.com and have fun!

The Fab Melanie Rebane

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Today I’m feeling like a few great photos.

And guess what? I have some from anotherheadshot really creative and artistic photographer, Melanie Rebane of m photography in Ottawa Canada. I wasn’t kidding when I said I have people all over!

Melanie trained in fine art film photography and fashion design and it shows! She takes inspiration from fashion and luxury wedding magazines specializing in Wedding, Boudoir and “Trash the Dress” photography. Her passion for fashion and art come together in these creative sessions, and from these sessions she is inspired to push the boundaries in wedding photography.

Her clients say she is a blast to work with using contemporary and artistic style with a European flair. Melanie captures relaxed portraits of her couples while also capturing the spirit of their event and their beloved guests in a photojournalistic style that lets events unfold naturally keeping them relaxed while being a bit adventurous.

Her clients continue to call her after their weddings for Maternity and family shoots which of course she also captures with a great eye for the unique and beautiful.

She loves shooting internationally and is doing a wedding in Prague this year. If I can get her to stop here in Ireland I might just don my wedding dress again for a trash the dress shoot! How fun would that be!

I must say that I had a really difficult time choosing from all the great images she has in her portfolio so you definitely have to visit her site and blog for more.

Lastly, I had to show you her album presentation. Really special.

Trash the Dress

I have been holding on to these photos from Ian Tate Photography for a little while now but thought today was the perfect day to post them. You can just feel the sunshine and warmth through the photos on a day that must have been very much like today.

This was a “Trash the dress” shoot that Ian shot in a wheat field near Hillsborough, Northern Ireland. What a stunning location.

You may or may not be familiar with these which are also sometimes referred to as “Rock the Frock”. They began in the US (not surprising) in the late 90’s and have increased in popularity in Ireland.

While the name may put some brides off the idea, it doesn’t necessarily have to mean destroying the dress that you’ve spent time and money on. These trash the dress shoots give you a great excuse to put on your fabulous dress again with your hubby (or on your own) and have some fun with the result of more relaxed and fantastic photos. Normally (as long as you don’t go too crazy) the dress is fine after a dry cleaning. It is a style of photography that portrays a contrast between elegant clothing in an environment that is out of place, generally shot in a fashion photography style.

You may like to do a quick search on the net to see a very diverse range of styles and ideas linked with this session, ranging from paint-balling to swimming in the sea.

The shots below were taken by Ian Tate Photography in Northern Ireland, they represent the opposite end of the scale of the “TTD” session.

Feel the sunshine!
