Flying the Flag

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

This isn’t a 4th of July post believe it or not. This post is about those adorable little mini flags you see on cupcakes, in drinks as place names, escort cards simply everywhere.

They are useful, sweet and easy with lots of DIY options and free down loads to be found on the web. So I’ll here are a few and I’llĀ  note where you can find the templates and or tutorials. Howz that sound?

Starting with the Queen. Find the tutorial for these little lovelies above on Martha Stewart Weddings here.

These also found on Martha Stewart Weddings {with tutorial} are billed as conversation starters. They can also be used as escort cards with guests’ names on them and pinned on to their clothes like a name-tag if a lot of your guests don’t know each other well.

No DIY on these I’m afraid but aren’t they lovely?

By Kio Kreations,

These also are to be bought

But why not make life easy if you can. Found on Etsy in Go Against the Grain’s shop, these are actually for a baby shower but you get the idea. And I love the stripy straws too!

And how can you not be simply in love with this teacup cake topper!?

It’s vintage, it’s got a flag, it’s adorable, it’s on {the wonderful} Ruffled Blog and it’s a DIY job so there is a tutorial. Love.

Here is another

This time on The Knotty Bride and get your glue gun ready because it’s a DIY too!

Purchase these

on Etsy again but this time in Paisley In Paris’ shop

And finally this lovely little mini flag garland

from Whimsical Wonderland Weddings including tutorial via Love My Dress.

Keep flying those flags!

5 Of My Fav……Clutches

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

Always so elegant. Whether it is for a wedding or an evening out. Whether you are the bride, a bridesmaid or a guest. Lovely clutches add a finishing touch to your outfit. In fact I had a bride recently who wasn’t into flowers and her maids carried lovely clutches instead. And why not??

Here are 5 of my favs.

Straight in with the glam! This clutch is by Gina. You will use it again and again.

This one would be a great to switch an outfit from business wear to out for cocktails. It’s in Ellen’s Vintage Shop on Etsy.

Be a bit more flamboyant with colorful clutches by Toon Design on Etsy. You will find a great selection of patterns and colors there!

A little bit of 20’s style from Vintage Headdress. {obviously} Lots more loveliness over there. Go check it out.

I couldn’t decide on a color so this counts as one. Again on Etsy in Heidi Creations Shop.

Love.
