Wedding Dress Finder

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Yesterday I told you that I have met some great likeminded wedding suppliers and today I am going to tell you about Lynn Crean. She is fabulous, has a really wonderful happy energy and I love her business!

Lynn is a Wedding Dress finder. She is Irish but based in London and knows the London Bridal Boutiques – very well! Girls, if you are heading over to London to shop for dresses, contact Lynn. She will save you time, money and make sure that dress fits you, your budget and your style. The mantra of her business is Fit, Budget, and Time (FBT). She helps brides search for beautifully fitted dresses within budget, in a timely manner.

And what I love about her is her business philosophy. Lynn said to me “It is all about cherishing the bride, making her special wedding time just that – special, indulgent, beautiful and luxurious.”

With her Gorgeous  Bride Consultation, Lynn will listen to you take on-board all the details of your wedding and for an hour and a half you will relax in sumptuous surroundings, focusing on styles, shapes and all things beautiful. She will then provide you with constructive style suggestions as well as boutique details to make finding your dress as stress free as possible.

The Fantastic Bride gets even more personal attention from Lynn as you will have your consultation, then she will personally arrange your appointments for you. Prior to your appointments she will meet the relevant boutique consultant to discuss your requirements in more detail and then accompany you and your support team to those appointments and work with you and the consultant to find your perfect dress!

Sounds like pure luxury to me and I know Lynn is passionate about what she does. Here is what one of her brides said “She explained all the different styles of wedding dress and which ones would suit me more than others. She even showed me different fabrics, advised me about shoes, accessories, my Mum’s outfit, what dress styles my bridesmaids should wear and even my fiancé’s suit! Now I know exactly what to look for!”

Fabulousness in London! Go to her website here.

Joan Shum Bridal Corsets and Skirts

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

So when I was posting the beautiful Style Lab Shoot from Boutwell Studios a while back I promised to show you more on the wedding dress designer who designed the gorgeous dress for the shoot.

She is Joan Shum and she loves making beautiful things. Which she does make!

Joan graduated from The Fashion Institute of Merchandising and Design and worked in the Los Angeles fashion district before deciding to launch her unique bridal collection that unites art, costume, and fashion into a line of elegant gowns.  She has a corset bridal line {real corsets} that consists only of corsets and skirts, which allows brides to create their own sense of style and each piece is hand-made by Joan with lots of love.

Here are some of her separates – together.

Mademoiselle Corset & Mademoisella Skirt

Lady of the Valley corset & Sweet Lilly skirt

Lady of the Valley corset & Love in the Mist skirt

Starlet Corset & Love in the Mist skirt

Queen Ann Lace corset & skirt

Lovely Jane Corset & Love in the Mist skirt

See how that works? But you don’t have to have a corset.

Lady Catherine halter lace top & hand-painted full circle skirt

White Dahlia bridal coat & Love in the Mist Skirt

There are so many other combinations that I just couldn’t show you but head on over to Joan’s website to see them. I think they are fab!

Couture Bridal Gowns by Claire Pettibone

inside of her salon

I must say I’m not sure how I heard about Claire Pettitbone. I think it came to me on my Google Alerts. Technology brings me such great things at random. Brilliant!  Anyway, as soon as I clicked on her site I know I was going to love it and write about it. It was just that bursting at the seams excitement that I get when I see such beautiful things.

Many of her gowns are very romantic being beautifully reminiscent of the 1920’s (I think that is what really caught me!)  and have a distinctly vintage feel. Claire uses subtle tints of champagne and antique lace to illuminate the bride in a soft glow and is inspired by vintage fabrics and fashion history. She works exclusively with couture European embroideries and laces and will make your veil to compliment your gown perfectly.

All of their gowns are made to order and take 4-6 months to complete. As your gown is so special it is made with handmade silk flowers, beading and laces which is cut and sewn in their Los Angeles atelier.

Claire says “A wedding gown has to be the most beautiful dress in a woman’s life, make her look and feel amazing, and capture her essence,” Well that is what she does so well.

Claire also has a luxury Lingerie line that is not to be missed. But then you won’t miss it because you can see it here and I will be writing about that too later!

She is based in Los Angeles but luckily for us her collection is now carried in premiere bridal salons around the world with several in the UK and even in Ireland! See precise locations here and there is also a beautiful and inspiring blog where you can see her real brides, get news, updates and a touch of all things beautiful.
