Oscar Style

Monday, February 27th, 2012

Yes I love love love the Oscars. And even though I didn’t get to acctually watch it last night {stupid TV channels!} I did stay up to watch the red carpet glamour and there was some serious fabulousness.

There are 2 gowns that are my personal favorites and they couldn’t be more different.

The first I don’t think got much attention, and that belonged to  “Bridesmaids” actress Ellie Kemper with her super stunning copper Armani Privé gown.

Love it! I’m really loving copper these days for some reason. And my other favorite gown has caused quite a stir. Take it away Gwynnie

Striking, elegant, perfectly fit  and simply fabulous Tom Ford gown.

Other mentions,

Jessica Chastin’s black and gold McQueen Gown is definately in the top 3 too. Amazing.

I also loved Michelle William’s Louis Vuitton gown. It was just so perfectly her and it’s so great to see someone who knows herself and owns her style so much.

Lastly, the little bit of sontroversy. I have to say I do love this gown. This is Shailene Woodley {The Decendants} wearing Valentino.

It fits her perfectly and is beautiful but for the Oscars? on a 20 year old? In LA? But I won’t criticize too harshly. She chose it and loved it herself. And if I could have been there,  I’d have worn it if I had the chance!

Art Deco Style

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

This is a repost. Call me lazy for drudging up past posts but I’m not really lazy. Just busy. {which is a good thing right?} And this repost from {omg} June 2010 {!} is  still valid because everyone is talking about the new Great Gatsby film {Leonardo is gunna look great in that} which is due out at the end of the year so another 1920’s revival looks to be on the cards.

So here we go back in time a bit for some gorgeousness that is still in style.

I was doing a bit of twittering yesterday and came across a great Art Deco blog post by Annabel from Love My Dress. Annabel is all about glamour, vintage and sexiness. She has great resources and inspiration for an art deco wedding {which she had herself} so with the sincerest form of flattery I am taking the inspiration and running with it to show you too.

Christmas Preperations

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

My wind-down for Christmas has started. I have to say though that I’m going pretty low key this year. Gifts for the nieces only and baking for neighbours are still to come but I’m setting the groundwork with shopping lists and even though I haven’t bought any gifts yet, I have the wrapping theme.

Every year I do a color scheme for gifts and Christmas. Almost always including metalics {Christmas no matter how low key should have sparkle} last year we were purples pinks and silver. This year we are reds, silver and a little natural browns wrap. I don’t normally do red {I like alternative Christmas colors} but found a basic brownwrapping paper with little red metallic dots that I loved and the rest just fell along with it.

Forgive me the state of the images. I took them myself of course.

So that is the start. Add a few other bits, a little mixy matchy and I will have another few styles.

The kids style

So still lots of work to do but I love making sure there is some sort of keepsake every year and gifts should also look so lovely and well presented that you almost don’t want to open them.

I’ll show you what will be baking tomorrow. :-)
