My Favorite Things

Monday, January 9th, 2012

I love doing these posts because there are so many fun and crafty things out there that just need to be used. Often you find them in strange places but they are so perfect for weddings. We all look at lovely blog posts with great DIY itmes and think ‘well where do you find that??’

So these are a few things I have come across recently that I just loved and  have become my faves. – get your imagination caps on!

Japanese paper tapes.

Super colorful and fun. I found these on Happy Tape and there are so many colors and patterns you are sure to find something to wuit. Use them to wrap napkins, create a border on your table plan or menus, or use them as little drink flags on straws like this:

Pails, buckets, what ever your preference is to call them.

I’ve talked about my love for pails before because they are worth talking about again. So inexpensive for the number of uses they have. I found the simple ones above here. Use large ones as rustic wine or champagne buckets, mini ones for favours, how cute would it be to have your flower girl dropping petals from her little bucket?, to simply hold pens for your guestbook, as your escort cards {plant sprouting herbs in each} or just for flowers like this:

Textured paper

These beauties are on Paper Mojo where you can find an amazing range of textured and printed specialty papers to use for your menus, table plans, guestbooks, {again} wrap napkins just erywhere that you can think of! Like these invitations:

Now I’m just going to send you to a website that is one of my current faves. Cute Tape has so many little sweet items to add fun, interest and quirkyness to your wedding.

You can see items above that include colorful and plain tags, recycled ring stickers for the tags, plain shaped coasters for stamping, vintage stamp letters, mini clothespins, bakers twine, retro pens, Decorative bags for candy or cookies, paper straws, postage labels, more Japanese paper tape and oh so much more. I could just go crazy there!

So there you go. A few things I love and the resources to get going on your fabulous DIY projects!

All You Need is Love – And Inspiration

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

I was looking for a little inspiration today so I went to Jesi Haack’s website. She {and her team} inspires me. Always super creative, the weddings she designs are perfectly individual. She is resourceful and crafty and she is a nice person. Ok, I’ve never actually met her but anytime I have ever emailed asking to repost one of her weddings/photoshoots  the answer is always a resounding “Sure! Thanks.” Now that is nice.

So here I am with another one.

This couple are Carmen and Pete and they share a love of music and film with The Beatles being their favourite band.

Representing their love of film, guests waved a flag made from movie film, which unraveled to spell out, “It’s for reel!” And {get this!} the flowers on Carmen’s bouquet were made from music sheet paper from the Beatles song “Anytime at All” which Pete sang to Carmen as he proposed.  The buttonholes for the groomsmen and Pete were made from vintage atlas map paper from different cities they have visited or would like to go.

Now get this, the girls carried red tamborines instead of bouquets and the guys danced down the aisle with marachas.

Everything had a meaning.

Carmen and Pete’s favorite Beatles album covers were the table names, old tape cassettes had each guests’ album name on it for them to match to the table name.  Jesi created a large music bar and had music notes for guests to sign and add to the bar to create a song and a large Beatles cutout gave fun facts about Carmen and Peter as well as letting guests know the dinner menu for the evening. Of course they had a Beatles tribute band! — Ooh and Tacos for evening food. Ahhh, tacos………

Heeeere are the photos!

Cassette table plan. Brilliant!

Love this guest book idea. Write a song with the best wishes. I wonder what it would sound like if actually played??

The word “Shugar” cam about by using the first few letters of Carmen and Pete’s last names. Perfect for their sweets table.

And Credit where credit {is totally} due:

Retro 3D Fun

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

These give me flashbacks to my childhood. You too? Or am I just aging myself? But what a fun thing. I want one so badly right now it hurts!

Image 3D has regenerated the Viewmaster with full personalization. No longer just a reminder of your trip to Disneyland, you can use YOUR Photos, choose your own colour with any Pantone code, and put a logo or monogram on the actual viewer and/or on the disk AND packaging.

So imagine what you can do with them for weddings? One or two at your photobooth or guestbook would be fun, but what about one per table? Save the dates???? That would be fabulous!

You know how you have named your tables after places you have been? Well put your photos taken at that place on a disk with a viewfinder at each corresponding table.  Get them as gifts for your bridal party full of images of themselves at your wedding.

For wedding professionals. Do I even have to tell you how you can use this for marketing? Put your brochure on one! Do you do Wedding shows? Take one or 2 with images from your portfolio and I guarantee you the brides will be there in droves!

Or what about as a gift to your couple after the wedding as a ‘Thank you’ with images of their wedding.

Oh yes, I love these. WANT one!
