Wedding Flower Art

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

To be honest I don’t know if brides still preserve their wedding bouquets. I have never been asked about it. I saved and dried mine but have no idea where it is now, 6 years later.

I do wish I had known I could preserve them in original art.

Here are some samples of wedding flower preservation in art by Betty of Curly Art.

I think they are simply beautiful and what a great memory to have every time you look at them!

Pail In Comparison

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

What is it with me and galvanized pails lately? I want them everywhere! Not used and rustic looking. Shiny and new! You can use them for everything! Totally obsessed. I don’t know. But look!

You can get tiny ones for little flowers, single buds or individual favours

Tall ones for tall dramatic flower arrangements

Big ones for wine :-) or bottled beers. Just grab em out of the ice and open!

Medium ones for larger favours, ceremony programs, bathroom baskets, parasols, flip flops, pasminas, anything! All of the pails above are from Galvanized Pails based in the US of A and come in every shape size and color. And they are cheap!

But wait! Want to go a little fancier? I can hardly contain myself! {no pun intended} Have a lookie here at these babies from The Macbeth Collection. You choose the product and them the design you want on it. Even add a monogram, typeface or icon. There are millions of patterns and colors to choose from so these are just a tiny sample.

Yup. Pretty crazy about them. Again they can be found at The Macbeth Collection.

The New Wedding Guestbook

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

While speaking to one of my brides yesterday, she asked if she should get a wedding guestbook. Initially I suggested a wishing tree because she is having a very natural and organic style wedding but she is also an art therapist and while she loved the idea of a wishing tree and apparently uses something similar in her work, I am now thinking an art print guestbook may be nice for her. Still along the lines of her work and the couple both like original art.

To do this simply get a large canvas and either let your guest freely decorate or you can mark out grids or a paint by numbers style template for them to follow. Like this:

Choose the colors you like {either your wedding colors or the colorscheme for the room you may hang it in} and use proper paints or watercolors or even sharpies in various colors. Just fun.

A few other themed options could be

For a bookwork or librarian this journal I quite liked

Something similar but a yet more retro for the new little wife {bit tongue in cheek!}:

You can also do quilt or crafting squares of fabric or like this lovely summer Southern wedding, handkerchiefs for your guests to sign and hang.
