A Castle and a Ceili

Thursday, February 7th, 2013

First of all let’s get the pronunciation and definition of céilí over and done with. Pronounced ‘kay-lee’, a céilí is a traditional Irish gathering where there normally is {Irish traditional} music and dancing.

That is exactly what Jess and Peter had after their wedding in Newton Castle, Co Clare.

It was a little round about getting them there, because- get this, Jess is American, Peter is Australian, she lives in Germany, he in Australia and they were getting married in Ireland. Oh, and we planned the wedding in 3 months!

They had an intimate group of family and friends and after the ceremony at the castle, they stopped in at O’Loclainn’s bar in Ballyvaughan before dinner in Vaughan’s Barn followed by learning some Irish dancing and a traditional céilí.

The day was beautifully captured in these stunning images by Poppies & Me.

Jess and Peter are such a sweet couple and I enjoyed working with Jess so much. I’m delighted they all had such a great time.

In addition to Sean & Kate {of Poppies & Me in case you missed it the first time and BTW you should really head on over there to see more lovely wedding photos}  I have to give thanks to Grainne from Makeup Matters for coming out to do Jess’s makeup, The Flower Haven, Sharon Howley for the ceremony music, and Mark at Vaughan’s Ceili Barn. Thanks guys!

Aisling & Peter

Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

The relationship between Aisling and myself started out normal enough; inquiry, going through details of what I do and what she needs, but before I was totally hired, she text me a photo of the shoes she was just about to buy and I thought “I like this girl!”

The other great thing about both Aisling and Peter, was that even though they were one of my busiest couples ever, they knew what was important to them and were completely organized with those elements of the planning. Even better? the stuff they didn’t really care as much about they were happy to leave to me with total trust. It was the best of both worlds.

So here are a few images of the beautiful Aisling and Peter’s wedding at Kilshane House in Tipperary taken by Peter Gordon of Explore Light .

Peter gave his already stylish groomsmen all gold pocket watches for their waistcoats as gifts before the wedding. Too cool.

The shoes! Rose gold Louboutins

The Italian Job style wedding transport.

I always love photos of the groom waiting for his bride. This shot of Peter is classic!

Bansha Church is gorgeous on it’s own but Michelle from Cashel Flowers was absolutely wonderful to work with and did such a beautiful job on all of the flowers.

Family photos were strewn around the house and conservatory and for the table plan we did escort cards in gold envelopes pinned on to lavender padding surrounded by gold frames. Peter’s father is a musician and they named each of the tables after one of his songs. The guests loved it.

Karina Murphy of Karina’s Cakes made the 170 individual gold mini cakes and we carried Aisling and Peter’s monogram of their initials between 2 sprigs of lavender throughout the day where it made appearances on the cake, ceremony programmes, menus, table plan and place cards.

Other credits go to

Joanne Kelly who did Aisling and the girls’ hair and Aisling’s friend Nicola did all of the makeup. Ryan Morgan sang beautifully at the church. The Ratzingers played background jazz during pre dinner drinks and Shane Black magician kept everyone amazed and entertained.

They are not only a gorgeous couple but so fun too, as were their friends so with a fireworks show to top off the evening and a post wedding BBQ with adult games, activities and drinks to finish the whole fabulous weekend I have to say, I think a great time was had by all!

Thanks to Aisling and Peter for letting me share their wedding day with them and their photos with you. A super big congratulations to them again!

Year Review

Saturday, December 29th, 2012

What a year and what great couples I was lucky enough to have!

We went from Dingle, to Waterford to Tipperary and lots of places in between with weddings of 2 to 200 on cliffs and in castles. We had couples who were quite reserved and some that were a little outgoing {just a little ;-) }

We worked with so many great people including some fabulous photographers, so here are a few shots of some of Aislinn Events alumni 2012.
